Coatings, Thin Film Process

Chemetall was the first company to introduce a multi-metal thin-film technology on the market — long before most of the current developments had taken place. Now, Oxsilan® represents a mature alternative — comparable in terms of quality to zinc-phosphating or chromating processes. With a view to their technical and economic profile, these thin film technologies clearly show advancements in terms of higher productivity and multi-metal capability, resulting in considerably lower process costs.

Oxsilan® is the answer for phosphate-free processes.

Easy changeover from conventional processes to Oxsilan®

Manufacturers who are considering an upgrade of their paint and pretreatment system should therefore consider taking a step towards the future. Many years‘ industrialized experience has shown that existing processes can be converted without significant investment.

Gardobond AP 9811 is a liquid, phosphorus-free, dry-in-place pretreatment that enhances the performance of subsequently-applied organic liquid and powder coatings. Multi-metal Gardobond AP 9811 reacts with steel, aluminum and zinc substrates to enhance paint adhesion and corrosion resistance properties. Gardobond AP 9811 is free of any regulated heavymetals. Substrates must be cleaned and thoroughly rinsed prior to processing in Gardobond AP 9811. Gardobond AP 9811 is used at energy- saving ambient temperature by spray or immersion. A minimum of three stages is required.
Gardobond AP 9840 is a liquid, phosphorus-free, single-package, cleaner and pretreatment that enhances the performance of subsequently-applied organic liquid and powder coatings. Multi-metal Gardobond AP 9840 cleans and reacts with steel, aluminum and zinc substrates to enhance paint adhesion and corrosion resistance. Gardobond AP 9840 is free of regulated heavy metals. Gardobond AP 9840 is used at energy-saving low temperature by spray and produces very little sludge. A minimum of two stages is required. Gardobond AP 9840 may also be used with a spray wand.
Gardobond C 4571 is a chrome (Vl) containing dried-in-place process for strip and sheet steel, hot-dip galvanized steel, electro-galvanized steel, Galvalume, or aluminum and its alloys.
Gardobond EPP is a zirconium and titanium based advanced pretreatment process that coats multiple substrates at energy-saving ambient temperature by spray or immersion. Formulated for use on steel, iron, aluminum, zinc and magnesium substrates, Gardobond EPP is compatible with most liquid, powder and electrocoat paints. Gardobond EPP is free of regulated heavy metals for simplified waste treatment and produces almost no sludge for easy maintenance. The working bath of Gardobond EPP has a very low phosphorous content. Gardobond EPP is formulated to yield performance similar to an iron phosphate process. Substrates must be thoroughly cleaned and rinsed prior to processing in Gardobond EPP. A low-phosphorous or phosphorous-free cleaner is recommended before Gardobond EPP.
OXSILAN 9800 is a liquid, phosphorous-free, slightly acidic, silane-based product that enhances the performance of subsequently-applied organic coatings. OXSILAN 9800 is formulated for use on steel, iron, aluminum and zinc substrates. It is free of any regulated heavy metals. Substrates must be cleaned and thoroughly rinsed prior to processing in OXSILAN 9800. OXSILAN 9800 is used at ambient temperature by spray or immersion. OXSILAN 9800 is normally used with a final water rinse. OXSILAN 9800 is approved to Caterpillar 1E4093 and listed on 1E1850.
OXSILAN 9801 is a silane-based, liquid pre-paint treatment for aluminum wheels. The application is applied by spraying or immersion.
OXSILAN 9810/1 is a liquid, phosphorous-free, slightly acidic, silane-based product that enhances the performance of subsequently-applied organic coatings. Oxsilan 9810/1 is formulated for use on steel, iron, aluminum and zinc substrates. It is free of regulated heavy metals. Substrates must be cleaned and thoroughly rinsed prior to processing in Oxsilan 9810/1. Oxsilan 9810/1 is used at ambient temperature by spray or immersion.
Phosphorous-free pretreatment to replace zinc phosphate. For steel, aluminum and zinc substrates, applied at ambient temperature by spray or immersion, normally used with a final water rinse. OXSILAN 9810/2 is a liquid, silane-based product with non-regulated metals. Approved for Federal Specification TT-C-490, Type IV.
OXSILAN MM-0705 is a liquid, non-chrome, slightly acidic, silane-based product that enhances the performance of subsequently-applied organic coatings. Oxsilan MM-0705 can be used on aluminum, zinc, cold rolled steel and other substrates. Substrates must be cleaned and thoroughly rinsed prior to processing in Oxsilan MM-0705. Oxsilan MM-0705 is used at ambient temperature by spray, immersion or roll coating. Oxsilan MM-0705 is a dry-in-place product.
