Lubricants
Lubricants for Metalworking from Chemetall are the hardest working products in the industry. Their enhanced performance features allow for increased tool and die life, cleanliness in the operation, excellent corrosion protection, and low moisture absorption. Other benefits include:
- Minimization of metal surface damage, thus fewer rejects
- Reduction of heat generated, preventing residue build-up, keeping dies cool, and extending tool and die life
- Ease of cleaning
- Higher drawing speeds
- Better surface quality
Chemetall's line of lubricants include:
Reactive Soaps
Reactive soap used over zinc phosphate coatings. Top product for extrusion.
Reactive soap used over zinc phosphate coatings for long bath life in combination with excellent cleanliness after drawing and annealing.
Reactive Oils
Reactive drawing oil for low surface roughness after drawing.
Salt Carriers
Salt carriers are superior lubricant carriers that replace both borax and lime. They offer excellent corrosion protection, low moisture absorption and outstanding die service life, due to a new salt composition, when used with suitable drawing lubricants.
Form: Powder
Apply by: Immersion in a strand line
Gardolube VP 10052/2 is a water-soluble, chloride-free salt carrier used to facilitate the continuous cold forming processing of bare and phosphated wire.
Polymer Lubricants
Chemetall's polymer lubricants contain highly refined raw materials in a concentrated form, which enable increased die life, higher drawing speeds, greater production efficiencies and better metal surface quality.
Form: Liquid
Apply by: Immersion
Process(es): Cold forging or cold extrusion of pretreated carbon steel, stainless steel, copper, brass and aluminum. Other applications include weaving (wire mesh), wire drawing, blanking, piercing, bending, stamping and deep drawing.
Gardolube L 6332 is free of solvents, chlorine, fluoride, and phosphorus.
Form: Liquid
Apply by: Immersion, spray
Process(es): Pretreatment of alloyed and mild carbon steel prior to hydroforming
Gardolube L 6337 is a chlorine-free lubricant dispersion that forms a dry, organic separation and carrier coating with good lubricating effects.
Form: Liquid
Apply by: Immersion, spray
Process(es): Pretreatment of alloyed and mild carbon steel prior to hydroforming
Gardolube L 6334 is a chlorine-free lubricant dispersion that forms a dry, organic separation and carrier coating with good lubricating effects.
Gardolube L 6338 is an aqueous dispersion for cold extrusion of aluminum.
Form: Liquid
Apply by: Immersion
Process(es): Cold heading and cold forging of phosphated or bare iron materials as well as oxalated or bare corrosion-proof and acid-proof steels. It is especially suitable for net shape forming and processes with high temperature generation.
A water-dilutable and mineral-oil free lubricant on polymer bases containing molybdenum disulfide, Gardolube L 6444 generates a smooth and touch-resistant coating on the part surfaces.

Process(es): An array of applications including blanking, piercing, bending, forming, stamping and deep drawing.
Oakite Gardolube VP 10300/1 is a water-soluble blend of highly refined natural lubricant components with corrosion inhibitors and a non-silicone foam suppressant for use on steel, copper, brass and aluminum.
Gardolube VP 10300/2 is a synthetic, water soluble drawing lubricant for steel, galvanized and aluminum substrates. It contains highly refined natural lubricant components blended with specialized corrosion inhibitor system to provide increased die life, higher drawing speeds and better surface quality.
Gardolube 138 is a Drawing Lubricant for the Cold Forming of Steel Alloys. The Lubricant is Free of Chlorine Compounds.
Draw Clean 36P is a versatile lubricant that can be used for drawing, forming, stamping and copper wire drawing
Cool Draw is a heavy-duty, chlorinated, oil-base lubricant similar to conventional “honey oil”. Cool Draw is designed to do the toughest metal forming jobs on cold rolled and stainless-steel surfaces. Included are deep drawing, swaging, rolling, heavy punching, wire and tube drawing. It also performs well on aluminum, copper and other softer metals.
Draw Clean EXP is specially designed for Extreme Pressure drawing operations. The lubricant has such superior film strength and exceptional cling, it's formulated for extreme pressure forming operations. These include deep-drawing, heavy punching, swaging, rolling, wire and tube drawing.
Form: Liquid
Apply by: Manual, roll-coat, swab, brush, spray, dip
Flexi Draw is a synthetic, tall oil fatty acid soap based lubricant.
Process(es): Wide variety of light to medium-duty metal-forming operations, including stamping, blanking, punching, bending.
A synthetic soap-based water soluble drawing compound, Flexi Draw is easily removed with most alkaline cleaner systems.
Oakite 12 is a non-soap lubricant used during many metalworking operations including light-duty stamping, forming and drawing. It also finds wide application in food industry plants as a conveyor chain lubricant. Oakite 12 is also a very effective welding anti-splatter compound. Unlike soap-type materials, Oakite 12 displays a high tolerance for acid spillage, brine contamination and hard water. In addition, it may be used as a general maintenance cleaner.
Form: Liquid
Apply by: Flow on method, swab, dip
Process(es): Light forming, stamping and punching of painted and unpainted stock. Can also be used for fin stamping operations involving aluminum and aluminum alloys.
Approval(s): Contains ingredients acceptable to the FDA
Draw Clean VO is a solvent-based vanishing oil that gives the lubricating performance necessary for light duty stamping and blanket operations. It does contain a lower flash solvent system which results in little to no residue upon application.
Die Gard 36 is a versatile lubricant, which can be used for drawing, forming, stamping and copper wire drawing.
