CrysCoat CM forms very fine coatings and does not need a separate grain-refining activator or accelerator. CrysCoat CM is compatible with powder, liquid and electrocoat paints as well as rubber-to-metal bonding agents. CrysCoat CM meets the requirements of Federal Specification TT-C-490 Type I.
CrysCoat CrysCoat OC is a robust, simple-to-use, heavy zinc phosphate for iron and steel substrates, used primarily to form absorption pretreatments for post treatments such as oiling. CrysCoat OC can form coatings of 1000–3000 mg/ft2 (11–33 g/m2). Application is by immersion. CrysCoat OC meets the requirements of ASTM F 1137.
CrysCoat OC NF is nickel-free and used to form absorption pretreatments for iron and steel substrates.
CrysCoat XH is a robust, simple-to-use, heavy zinc phosphate for iron and steel substrates, used primarily to form absorption pretreatments for post treatments such as oiling. CrysCoat XH can form coatings of 1000–4000 mg/ft2 Application (11–43 g/m2). Application is by immersion. CrysCoat XH meets the requirements of ASTM F 1137 when used with Chemetall Rust Preventative 1, and is approved for Chrysler PS-80. CrysCoat XH meets the requirements of MIL-DTL-16232G Type Z, and Commercial Item Description A-A-59267.
Gardobond 24 T is a manganese-modified, nickel-containing, low-zinc phosphate process for steel and galvanized steel applied by immersion. Small amounts of aluminum may also be processed through Gardobond 24 T, although coatings are normally developed on aluminum only with special additives. The zinc phosphate coatings produced by Gardobond 24 T are suitable for electrophoretic, powder, solvent-borne and water-borne paints. Gardobond 24 T is approved for Caterpillar 1E4093. Gardobond 24 T meets the requirements of Federal Specification TT-C-490 Type 1.
Formulated to provide medium-weight zinc phosphate coatings on steel, Gardobond Z 3100 is used in wire drawing and light to medium cold forging operations with lube or salt carrier coatings.
Gardobond Z 3510 is a material designed to establish zinc phosphate conversion coatings for wire drawing, cold forging operations and strand line/continuous line applications.
Gardobond 585 is a continuous strand line applied zinc phosphate conversion coating material primarily designed as a pretreatment prior to wire drawing. The weight of the phosphate coating is about 200–600 mg/ft2 prior to lube or salt carrier application.
Spray
CrysCoat LWT is an internally-accelerated, robust, simple-to-use, zinc phosphate, applied by spray, primarily for steel, prior to painting. Small-to-moderate amounts of hot dip galvanized steel, galvanneal, electrogalvanized steel and aluminum may also be processed through CrysCoat LWT, although coatings are normally developed on aluminum only with special additives. Because there is no nitrite accelerator to add to the bath, the amount of sludge is reduced. The dense, fine-grained zinc phosphate coatings produced by CrysCoat LWT improve the performance of electrophoretic, powder, solvent-borne and water-borne paints. CrysCoat LWT meets the requirements of Federal Specification TT-C-490 Type 1. Coating weights of about 150–500 mg/ft2 (1.5–5.0 g/m2) can be produced with CrysCoat LWT, depending on the parameters and on the particular grain-refining activator used in the rinse prior to CrysCoat LWT.
Gardobond 24 S is a manganese-modified, nickel-containing, low-zinc phosphate process for steel and galvanized steel applied by spray. Small amounts of aluminum may also be processed through Gardobond 24 S, although coatings are normally developed on aluminum only with special additives. The zinc phosphate coatings produced by Gardobond 24 S are suitable for electrophoretic, powder, solvent-borne and water-borne paints.
Spray/Immersion
CrysCoat FG is a nickel-free, zinc phosphate process primarily for steel, applied by spray or immersion. Small amounts of hot dip galvanized steel, galvanneal electrogalvanized steel and aluminum may also be processed through CrysCoat FG, although coatings are normally developed on aluminum only with special additives. The dense, fine-grained zinc phosphate coatings produced by CrysCoat FG improve the performance of electrophoretic, powder, solvent- borne and water-borne paints.
CrysCoat MP is a nickel-containing, zinc phosphate process for steel, hot dip galvanized steel, galvanneal and electrogalvanized steel applied by spray or immersion. Small amounts of aluminum may also be processed through CrysCoat MP, although coatings are normally developed on aluminum only with special additives. The dense, fine-grained zinc phosphate coatings produced by CrysCoat MP improve the performance of electrophoretic, powder, solvent- borne and water-borne paints. CrysCoat MP meets the requirements of Federal Specification TT- C-490 Type 1 and Boeing Process Specification BAC 5810 Type III. Coating weights of about 150–500 mg/ft2 (1.5–5.0 g/m2) can be produced with CrysCoat MP, depending on the parameters and on the particular grain refining activator used in the rinse prior to CrysCoat MP.
Gardobond R 2310, formerly Permatreat 2310, is a liquid product designed to produce a zinc phosphate coating on electro galvanized surfaces. It can also be applied to other zinc surfaces such as Galvanneal, zinc-plated steel and zinc- base alloys. It is not appropriate to use this product for HDG. It provides excellent organic coating adhesion and superior corrosion protection. Gardobond R 2310 is designed for the continuous coating of coil by either spray or immersion processing, is highly accelerated, and is low sludging. The Gardobond R 2310 formulation includes Ni to improve grain refinement. It is typically preceded by an activation stage, and followed by a chrome or non-chrome final rinse.
Gardobond R 2955 is a phosphating process on the basis of Zn-Ni phosphate for hot-dip galvanized steel and electro-galvanized steel. Phosphate coatings obtained with Gardobond R 2955 constitute an excellent corrosion protection and substantially improve paint adhesion. Gardobond R 2955 is a pretreatment prior to the painting.
Gardobond R 400, formerly Cryscoat ZS 400, is a nickel-containing, zinc phosphate for steel, hot dip galvanized steel, galvanneal and electrogalvanized steel, applied by spray or immersion. Small/moderate amounts of aluminum may also be processed through Gardobond R 400, although coatings are normally developed on aluminum only with special additives.
Additives
CrysCoat Adjust ZA is a powdered additive for reducing the free acid and increasing the zinc content of zinc phosphate baths. It can be used with a Chemetall zinc phosphate process for meeting the requirements of Federal Specification TT-C-490.
This product accelerates the spray and immersion zinc phosphate processes, produces finer crystals, less sludge, softer scale and a more stable process solution.
Gardolene V 6559 is a liquid activating pre-rinsing agent for metal surfaces to be applied prior to zinc phosphating.
The pre-rinsing agent is suitable for surface activation of various metal alloys of iron, zinc, and aluminum. By activating the surface, a fine crystalline zinc phosphate coating may be generated particularly on part surfaces which have been previously treated with alkaline cleaners or pickled with acid. Gardolene V 6559 is added to the last rinse bath just prior to the zinc phosphating bath. Gardolene V 6559 is applied by either spray or immersion.
